Who We Are
The Hell Hole Swamp Festival and Hell Hole, Inc. exemplify the spirit of community, dedication, and generosity. Founded on the vision of fostering togetherness, these events have become cherished traditions in Jamestown, South Carolina. By creating an inclusive space where people from diverse backgrounds can come together, socialize, and enjoy an array of activities, these events have not only provided entertainment but also strengthened the bonds of community.
Cecil Guerry's initial vision has not only endured but has flourished, thanks to the commitment of volunteers and the support of the Town of Jamestown. The festival's unique attractions, such as the beauty pageants, the children's tobacco spitting contest, and the Hell Hole Gator Trot 10k race, have added character to the event, making it a true representation of the local culture.
Moreover, Hell Hole, Inc.'s expansion of community involvement is commendable. By organizing events like the Oyster Roast and supporting initiatives like the Back to School Bash and Halloween Munster Mash, they have gone above and beyond in their efforts to give back to the community. Offering these events free of charge demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances, can participate and enjoy these community gatherings.
In essence, the Hell Hole Swamp Festival and Hell Hole, Inc. stand as shining examples of how the dedication of a few individuals, when combined with community support, can create a lasting impact. Through their events and initiatives, they continue to promote the values of unity, generosity, and fellowship, making Jamestown a vibrant and tightly-knit community.

Our annual Oyster Roast is one of two major fundraisers we have every year to benefit our other free programs for the youth in the community throughout the year. Funds raised are used to host our Back 2 School Bash and our Halloween event, both of which are completely free to those who attend. All proceeds allow us to be an advocate for underserved population of children and others in the community.
The Hell Hole Swamp Festival takes place during the first weekend in May at Jamestown. It is a typical Southern festival complete with a cocoa spitting contest, arm wrestling, beauty contests and much more. One unique event of the festival is the Hell Hole Gator Trot 10k. It began in 1976 and is one of the oldest road races in South Carolina.
